World's longest river ranking

1. Nile River

The Nile is a river that flows through eastern and northern Africa, flowing from south to north into the Mediterranean Sea, with a total length of 6,670 km, making it the longest river in the world. In 2007, scholars from Brazil claimed that the Amazon River is longer, but this has not yet been universally accepted by the global geographic community. The Nile has two major tributaries, the White Nile and the Blue Nile. The Blue Nile, which originates in the Ethiopian highlands, is the source of most water and nutrients for the lower Nile, but the White Nile is the longest of the two tributaries.
