When you want to achieve your goals through fitness, you are bound to have a perfect transformation from your mind to your body. If you want to not be fooled and want to achieve your fitness goals faster, then you must know these four points first.
One of the must-know points: what is basal metabolic rate? As the name implies, it is the rate of the body's "basal metabolism", and since it is a rate, it is how many calories the body consumes in a day. The basal metabolism is the minimum amount of energy required to maintain the body's vital activities throughout the day, and is the energy metabolism of the body when it is awake and extremely quiet, unaffected by muscle activity, ambient temperature, food and mental stress.
Everyone's metabolism is different, the higher the muscle mass the higher the metabolism, men have a higher metabolism than women, infants and children have a higher metabolism than the elderly, and as we get older it will get slower and slower without effective fitness exercise or other means to control it.
Body Mass Index (BMI) is the number obtained by dividing the body weight in kilograms by the square of the height in metres, and is a commonly used international measure of body weight and health.
Mainly used for statistical purposes, BMI is a neutral and reliable indicator when we need to compare and analyse the health effects of a person's weight on people of different heights. We can use this formula to calculate whether a person is overweight or not, but it is only a reference value in terms of weight and does not reflect the health status of your organs in the same way as an ultrasound.
Muscle mass is simply the total number of pounds of muscle in our body. Muscle maintains the stability of our bones, increases the rate of metabolism and makes our body more capable of locking in water.
Body fat percentage is the ratio of the mass of all the fat tissue in your body to your body weight (mainly subcutaneous fat and visceral fat). The ratio of body fat to body weight is actually a better indicator of how "fat and lean" a person is.
Being overweight is not necessarily fat, but being high in body fat is the real "fat". Too much visceral fat can lead to diseases such as fatty liver and cirrhosis of the liver. The rest of the subcutaneous fat is the key to our body fat, but of course it also has the advantage of being able to resist the cold! It is generally between 10% and 20% for men and between 18% and 28% for women.
