Why does sunburn cause skin cancer?
There are 3 stages of sunburn, the first stage is redness and increase in temperature of the skin; the second stage is a distinct burning and stinging sensation of the skin, accompanied by a feeling of tightness; and the third stage is peeling of the skin. Untreated sunburn not only results in melanin deposits, but also makes the skin more sensitive, prone to wrinkles and accelerates the rate of skin ageing. People with familial skin conditions, in particular, are prone to skin cancer from repeated sunburns.
What should I do after a sunburn?
Cold milk should be applied externally promptly after a sunburn as it has an anti-inflammatory and astringent effect and is less likely to cause allergies, helping to relieve minor sunburn. To do this, place a carton or bag of milk in the freezer and after a few hours pour the milk into a basin, soak a gauze and wring it out, then apply to the sunburned skin. If the sunburn is large, apply a cold compress every 5 minutes for about 30 minutes, 2-3 times a day for a few days.
How should I choose sun protection equipment in summer?
1. Sunscreen
In rainy weather or in the shade, choose a sunscreen with a sun protection index of 15~25; if you are in the sun, choose one with a sun protection index of 25~30; if you go to the plateau, snowy mountains and beaches, choose one with a sun protection index of more than 50; for those who sweat a lot or swim, a waterproof sunscreen is preferred. Apply it 30 minutes before going out each time, the amount applied is about the size of a dollar coin; for those who are outdoors for a long time, reapply every 2~3 hours.
2. Wear sun protection clothing
UPF index more than 30 and UVA transmission rate less than 5%, this is the real sunscreen, can block UV rays. Try to choose synthetic fiber material, brighter colours, tight and heavy fabric sunscreen clothing.
3. Wear a sunshade
Ensure that the sunshade has a UV transmission level of more than 40 and a UVA transmission rate of less than 5% so that it can combat UV rays. Prefer umbrellas with a higher density of woven yarn and a darker coating for the best sun protection.
Warm Tips
UV rays are strongest between 10am and 4pm, so try not to go out during this period; when you must go out, choose the right sun protection equipment, apply sunscreen, wear an umbrella and sun hat as well as sun protection clothing. It is important to note that 72 hours after sunburn is the golden period. The key points during this period are whitening, repairing and hydrating, drinking small amounts of water, taking vitamin E and vitamin C orally and using a spray hydrator. This is all about "What to do after a sunburn?" I hope this will help you to solve your problem.
