The World's Largest Bat Cave: Blanken Cave

Blanken Cave, the world-famous home of mammals, is located in Central Texas, U.S.A. As night falls, look out and a spectacular show takes place above the night sky. This group of bats is like a scout going into the wind. It is said that every year from March to October, groups of Mexican tailless bats gather from their original home in Mexico and then fly to this Blanken Cave. They are a group of "nocturnal warriors" who choose to come out at night to feed, and the scene is absolutely spectacular.

In June, the females begin to give birth to their young, and in July, the young begin to feed themselves, leaving the caves to join the nightly foraging party. But what is amazing is that the mothers are able to find their babies and feed them accurately in such a crowded and complex environment.

Protecting Blanken's Cave

According to media reports, the dense swarms of bats are not ostracized by the cotton farmers, but the farmers are taking good care of them. That's because the bats flying out of Blanken's Cave can help them chew up tons of insects and reduce the cotton farmers' losses. But some people are happy and some people are worried, the air force base near Blanken Cave has a great deal of trouble. It is reported that, because of the proximity of the reason, the air force base flight trainers have basically been "attacked" by the bats.

In early 2013, the development district discovered the feng shui site of Blanken Cave and wanted to develop a suburban development on it for residents to live in. But Bat Conservation International stopped the development and preserved the area. For bats, this was definitely a cause for celebration. Later, with the help of a coalition of federal agencies and some donors, the land was bought. This small group of bats also received permanent protection and never had to worry about their safety again.
