Honey is not only a food "sweetener" commonly used at home, but also a "good health product" in the eyes of many people. However, do you know that honey is not suitable for everyone? There are several kinds of people who should not eat honey!

These three categories of people should not eat honey

1、Children under the age of 11
Honey may contain Botox and its spores. For adults, their intestines have a strong immune and defense system, which will not cause any problems after consumption; However, for children with weak intestinal environment and poor resistance, Botulinum toxin will multiply rapidly in the intestinal tract and secrete botulinum toxin after entering the body, which is likely to cause food poisoning, even fatal in severe cases.
Tip: Not only honey, but also biscuits, cakes and other products containing honey are not recommended to be fed to children.

2、 Diabetics
The sugar content of honey is as high as 80%, and its main components are fructose and glucose, which can be absorbed quickly after entering the human body and have a great impact on blood sugar. Therefore, diabetics with unstable blood sugar control had better not eat honey, otherwise blood sugar fluctuations may be aggravated; Even patients with good blood sugar control should try to eat less.
Tip: The sugar index and calories of honey are lower than those of white sugar. In some situations where white sugar is needed, honey can be used instead.

3、 Gout patients in acute attack
Gout patients in the acute attack period should not eat honey. On the one hand, a large amount of fructose in honey will be metabolized in the liver and produce a large amount of uric acid; On the other hand, excessive fructose intake will lead to insulin resistance in the human body, which will indirectly lead to decreased uric acid excretion. The output of uric acid increases, but the excretion decreases. The accumulation of uric acid in the body is more and more, which is easy to aggravate the disease.

Does honey have a shelf life

Theoretically, mature and high-purity honey can indeed be stored indefinitely under sealed and dark conditions, because its water content is very low and sugar content is very high, so it is difficult for bacteria to survive in such an environment. However, this is often difficult to achieve in real life. First, once the honey package is opened, it is usually difficult to completely seal it; Secondly, when scooping honey with spoons, wooden sticks and other tools, bacteria and water carried on the tools will take the opportunity to enter the honey, thus accelerating its deterioration. At present, according to the requirements of the Food Law, honey manufacturers generally set the shelf life of honey at about 2 years. For safety, please don't eat the expired honey!

Honey crystal is broken?

When it gets hot, many people will choose to put honey in the refrigerator. Results After a period of time, I took it out and found that the honey was crystallized, so I thought the honey was bad and could not be eaten. In fact, when the temperature is relatively low, physical reactions will occur in honey, leading to the crystallization of sugar such as glucose. At the beginning, it is only a small part. As time goes on, the crystallization area will gradually become larger. In other words, it is normal for honey to crystallize at low temperature. Moreover, if the glucose content in honey is relatively high, it is also easy to crystallize; If honey contains "crystal nucleus" such as pollen and glucose crystal particles, it will also promote honey crystallization. Generally speaking, honey crystallization only has some impact on the taste and use, and does not affect food safety, so it can be safely eaten. However, if you find that the honey has white foam and peculiar smell, it means that it has deteriorated and is not recommended to eat.

Honey water can cure alcohol?

From the research data, fructose did not significantly improve the clinical symptoms of acute alcoholism. In addition, as mentioned earlier, a large intake of fructose will lead to a sharp rise in uric acid content in the blood. Therefore, people are not encouraged to drink honey water to sober up.
